New Gundam X Sequel Manga "FLASH" Launches This Week — Tifa & Garrod Set Off on a New Journey

The sequel saga continues.

"Mobile Suit Gundam X FLASH," a new manga serial by artist Kōta Tokita, launched this morning (August 26) in the October 2026 issue of Monthly Gundam Ace (KADOKAWA). It's a direct follow-up to the 2018 one-shot "NEXT PROLOGUE: If I'm With You", and if you loved that story, this one picks up exactly where it left off.

What's Happening

After receiving a mysterious message from D.O.M.E. — the ancient AI that once ruled the battlefield — protagonists Tifa Gueiro and Garrod Ran set off on their next adventure. The story explores what happens after the war: can the children of the war truly move forward, or does the past keep pulling them back?

The new issue also features:

• An exclusive interview with Kōta Tokita about continuing the X story
• Interviews with the main voice cast from the original 1998 anime
• A showcase of the October 2026 Gundam Ace issue cover and preview pages

Why It Matters

Mobile Suit Gundam X has always been a cult favorite — the story of child soldiers, grief, and trying to build something new from the ashes of war. The 1998 anime only had 39 episodes before being cut short, leaving a devoted fanbase that's waited nearly a decade for official follow-up content. The 2018 one-shot was a promising proof-of-concept; this new monthly serial means the story is getting the proper continuation it deserves.
